Create designs using templates

Use Canva templates to quickly create designs from the homepage or the editor.

You can also start a new design from the Quick Create section on your homepage or the Create tab to browse templates by design type. Visit our Design from scratch page to learn how.

Find templates in Canva

You can find templates from the homepage or while you’re designing in the editor.

To find templates from the homepage:

Choose one of these options:
- In the main area, select the
  Templates shortcut to browse templates.
- Enter keywords in the homepage search bar, then press Enter. To show only templates in your search results, select
  Templates above the search bar.
- From the side navigation, select
  Templates. Then browse categories or use the search bar to find a template.
Select a template to preview it, then select Customize this template to open it in the editor.

To find templates from the editor:

From the editor side panel, select
Templates.
Enter keywords in the search bar, then press Enter.
Browse the search results and select a template to use.

Generate templates with Canva AI

If you can’t find a template that fits your idea, Canva AI may be able to create one for you.

Note: This Canva AI experience may not be available to everyone yet.

From the editor side panel, select
Templates.
Search using four or more keywords, such as “Funny Halloween party poster.”
Under Can’t find something?, select Try Canva AI.
Review or edit your prompt in Canva AI.
(Optional) Select the + (plus) icon to add context to your prompt:
- Upload – Attach files from your device.
- Add from Canva – Use files from Your designs or Uploads.
- Apply brand - Use your brand’s fonts, colors, and other brand assets.
- Connect - Add content from connected apps.
Select
Submit to generate your design.

Canva AI adds the generated design as a new page.

Prepare your design for printing

If you plan to print your design, use CMYK colors to help make sure that the colors are printer-friendly. This is because colors don’t look the same on screens and on paper.

We also recommend using CMYK for Canva Print orders.
